Víctor García-López, Ph.D.
Assistant professor Department of Chemistry Louisiana State University Email: vglopez@lsu.edu |
Biography
Víctor was born and raised in México. He received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Monterrey Tech in 2011. As an undergraduate, he was a visiting researcher in the laboratory of Prof. Wilfred van der Donk at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and with Prof. Eusebio Juaristi at the Cinvestav in México City. He completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Rice University in 2016, working with Prof. James Tour and Prof. Angel Martí. His thesis focused on developing light-activated molecular machines operating on surfaces and in cancer cells. From 2016 to 2018, he was a postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zurich with Prof. François Diederich, developing light-activated receptors. He returned to Rice University as a postdoctoral fellow supported by the 2019 CASI award from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund to expand the use of molecular machines to kill cancer cells and other microorganisms. He Joined LSU in the Fall of 2020 as an assistant professor. |
